SURPRISE MELIN!!!!

Hello Friends!
Welcome to a very special SURPRISE "Thank You" Blog Hop at Cooking with Cricut. Why is it so special? There are a couple of reasons! The first reason is it is our 100th Cooking With Cricut challenge and the second (and most important) is to thank our wonderful leader and "Executive Chef" Melinda Beltran!!

Melin started the Cooking With Cricut challenges in October 2010 to encourage crafters to find new and different ways to use their Cricut cartridges. And she has accomplished that and so much more! She has given scores of crafters a place on her Design Teams which quickly turned into a sisterhood of women, who care for each other; who encourage each other; who lift each other and their families up in prayer; and who have shared their hearts and their art through many outreach projects.

So this is our SURPRISE "Thank You" tribute to our beloved Melin! If you came from Jamie's blog Scrappin 2 Baby Girls, you’re in the right place! If you’ve joined us in mid-hop and would like to start at the beginning, please head back to Cooking With Cricut– you won’t want to miss any of these awesome cards!!

Check out my card for Melin..she IS the bee's knees! I cut the little bee from Create A Critter at 3". I cut the wings out of velum for a realistic 'wing' look. The hexagons are cut from Once Upon a Princess at various sizes. I embossed the white cardstock with a swirly Cuttlebug embossing folder.

Melin was so kind to give me my very first opportunity to be on a design team. I am so thankful to her for having faith in me and giving me a chance. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the team and since this is my last post as part of the CWC team I am glad to have the opportunity to thank Melin (and Jen and the rest of the girls) for an amazing 6 months!!!

Thanks so much for hopping with us. We hope you’ll join us and leave your own "thank you" in the comment section for Melin at CWC! Now it’s time to head on over to see Hattie at Hattie's Haven– she’s the next stop on this party train!

Have a great day!

CWC: Taste of Summer Blog Hop Day 2

Welcome to DAY 2 of the Taste of Summer Blog hop at Cooking with Cricut. If you are following along you should have arrived from Hattie's wonderful blog. If you get lost along the way or you have stumbled across this hop and would like to start from the beginning, head on back to Cooking with Cricut for the complete hop schedule.

Now...

I scream, you scream, we all scream for ICE CREAM!!!! What says summer better than a double or even a triple scoop ice cream cone! I used the Once Upon a Princess Cartridge to create this fun card today. The cut only came with two scoops, but I cut out an extra one to make this 3 scooper!

I love the look of embossing folders on plain white cardstock! They create such a great base. I used the Swiss Dot embossing folder from Cuttlebug this time.

Well that is it for me today, now please hop on over to Lynden's blog and see what she has cooked up for you.

Thanks so much for joining us :)
I love to read your kind comments.

My first sketch with My Creative Sketches

I am excited to share my first layout for my design team at My Creative Sketches.  This month's fun layout was designed by the lovely Kim Keane. Here is what we're working with...

So here is what I came up with. I used the fabulous Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line from American Crafts to create this layout of my daughter and her cousins all dressed up in their pretty party dresses for their aunty's wedding.
here are a few close-ups of the details...

the stitched flowers are from Basic Grey.

I hope you will play along and link up your layout based on this sketch! Check out the amazing prize that could be YOURS at My Creative Sketches.

Have a great day!

Stuck on U Sketches: sketch #3

Well here we are, on to our 3rd card sketch challenge at Stuck on U Sketches! Today's adorable sketch was created by the lovely and talented Leah Schaeffer. I just love this sketch! I knew exactly what I was going to do with it as soon as I saw it.
I have had this little elephant punch from Martha Stewart for a long time and I've never used it. When I saw this sketch I knew it was the perfect size. I've made quite a few baby girl cards recently so I decided to make this one for a baby boy.

I added some lace details and a button with a double bow.

The little word stickers are from Authentique.

I used my sewing machine to stitch down the stick pin. The 'adorable' sticker is from My Minds Eye.

The papers for the elephants are all from 6x6 paper pads from Authentique. I just love the small pattern sizes in 6x6 pads, they work perfectly for punching out small shapes like this little elephant.

I hope you will play along with our sketch! Link up your creation at SOUS for a chance to be in our Top 3!

Friends with Flair Friday at Unity

It's Friday and you know what that means! Friends with Flair over at Unity Stamp Co. I have a fun card to share with you today.  I used this photo off of Pinterest as inspiration.
And here is my card...
Supplies used: Patterned paper: Authentique, Crate Paper; Cardstock: Bazzill; Stamps: Unity, {ippity}; Flowers: Prima; Punch: EK Success; Embossing Powder: American Crafts; Embossing Ink: Versamark; Twine: Devine Twine; Misc-brads, buttons, lace ribbon, doily.
I followed the color scheme in the room, with yellow, white, grey and a touch of black. The striped carpet is in the scalloped strip across the card. I used a dandelion stamp and embossed it with white on grey just like the wall. I added the shiny silver flower and brads to tie in the legs on the chair and the lamp.
The Stamp set I used for the flowers is an {ippity} set called The Simple Things.
When you buy {ippity} stamps through Unity, you have to choose an {ippity} chick. I would love it if you choose Maria Levine! She is awesome:) Her pic is near the bottom of the list of chicks so make sure you scroll down and choose her!
The flower stamp that I used actually has a straight stem as you can see from the image above, but I attached it to my acrylic block with the stems curved to the left for one flower and to the right for the other flower so I could get them to cross like that.

Thanks for stopping by today,
Have a great weekened! (it's a long one!)

Elle's Studio--August

It's a new month and that means that the Design Team Gallery at Elle's Studio is LIVE! Head on over to the gallery and see what my fellow DT members have done with Elle's tags.

Here are my projects...

My first features this adorable photo of my hunny and our son last summer. Just chillin' out in the shade, enjoying the warm days. I just love this photo!
Supplies used: Elle's Studio tags, Patterned papers: American Crafts; Letter and word stickers: Simple Stories; Accordion flower and Flair button: American Crafts. Circle and Scalloped border punch: EK Success.
I didn't have a grey mist in my stash so I just made my own by watering down some grey paint and then flicking it onto the paper with a small brush...it worked great and it was FREE!

My next project is another layout. This photo is about 7 years old but I have always wanted to scrap it and just haven't got around to it. My daughter loved (and still does) to play with sidewalk chalk! On this day she actually drew something recognizable (she was 2 at the time)...a smiley face. Can you see it?
Supplies used: Elle's Studio Tags; Patterned papers; Studio Calico, My Minds Eye; Stitched brads: Basic Grey, American Crafts; Orange journaling spot: Jillibean Soup; House Flair: American Crafts; Accordion Flower: American Crafts; Letter stickers: American Crafts.

Finally I made a fun card. This is not a color combo I would ordinarily work with, but I used the colors from the chevron tag from Elle's as a starting off point, and I ended up really liking how it turned out in the end.
Supplies used: Elle's Studio tags (chevron + Live*Laugh*Love); Patterned papers: Basic Grey; Accordion flower: American Crafts; Paper flower: Prima; Gingham flower: dollar store; flower button: October Afternoon: Yellow Border sticker: Doodlebug; Misc-photo corners, buttons, lace trim.

Thanks for stopping by today!
I love to read your kind comments :)
